Tour and Lunch with Women’s Wampum Gathering

ABOUT THE VISIT:

Dr. Kelsey Leonard (Shinnecock Nation, University of Waterloo) has convened a group of Indigenous women whose goals are to strengthen women's roles in the restoration and rematriation of the lifecycle of Wampum aquaculture, fashioning, and treaty-making. The group further aims to build capacity and empower Indigenous women from Nations who have relationships with quahogs and wampum in the reclamation of their traditional roles, practices, and places as water sustainability and climate action leaders. The group will be visiting Wampanoag Homelands in late May. Join the group for a tour of the Aquinnah Cultural Center and lunch on Saturday, May 31st.

Tour: 10-11:15 AM, Aquinnah Cultural Center

Lunch: 11:30-1 PM, Location TBD
