Durwood "Woody" Vanderhoop

Durwood was born and raised in Aquinnah and is the son of Roxane Ackerman and the late William Vanderhoop, Sr. He is the Lead Singer & Drum Keeper for Black Brook Singers, an Aquinnah clay artist, and language instructor for the Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project. He is also a former Tribal Planner and Tribal Council Secretary for the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe. durwood has a long history of Serving on tribal, town, and regional boards as an advocate for economic development, responsible land use, affordable housing, and Wampanoag culture & preservation.
